House Hunters Internationalish

Today we had an opportunity to see three different apartments on our wonderful new island home of St.Thomas. It was reminiscent of the house shopping shows that Alana and I are so fond of watching except that none of the apartments were all that great, in fact, they were all pretty bad in comparison to the first apartment we got to see yesterday.

It was a big reality check, for our fairly modest budget we were shown a pretty seedy part of town that was essentially an abandoned beach resort from the seventies. Needless to say it didn't seem like the safest or most sensible option for the price.

To give you an idea of where we were looking here's a map.

Map Key:
Green Arrow- where we are staying now
Blue Pin- The Apartment we are in the process of renting
Green Hiking Guy- The Zipline that I work at
Blue Sail Boat- A boat I'd Like to Work on
Red Flames- The bad apartment we saw

The place that we did see was on the east side of the island in red hook and it looked as if a hurricane had been through it and for only two hundred dollars cheaper than we were expecting to pay and with nothing included it wasn't worth our time.

The place that we have decided to live is pricey. But hopefully we will be able to afford it as the price includes electricity and water, which is huge as the local power provider has astronomical prices. The great thing about this place is not only the fact that it is located in one of the safest parts of the island but also that the original price for the rent is about four hundred more expensive than the price we actually are paying.

Oh and did I mention the pool? This location has an incredible pool and a great view of the harbor. But wait there's more, It's incredibly well furnished with beautiful furniture and a huge shower and it has a washer and dryer! It seems like we will be able to make ends meet with this place, which is great because we really really like it.

Another fun event of the day, and I guess every day, was driving. I got some more practice going up and down some of the islands big hills and got to drive through town so my confidence with a manual transmission is growing.
